ALERTATHON 2016 maiden edition was successfully held on 9th October 2016 (Sunday) on the OMR roads with nearly 1000 registrations, received overwhelming response from many regular runners and ones new to running, as the run was also an effort to raise awareness about saving lives by getting trained in emergency response.
The start and finish was at the DB Jain College. The event featured with a 10K timed run and a 5K fun run. The run was flagged off by actor Amy Jackson after a Zumba warm up session. She also urged the runners thus - “Everyone running this morning represents your families first and so, get trained in first response and be the hero of your family”. Runners took to the OMR as the run route, looping back into DB Jain College taking a U-turn at the Accenture signal at Sholinganallur.
The participants also get training in PEER (Personal Empowerment in Emergency Response) – Basic, that will introduce the runners to basic life support at the ALERT Simulation lab for emergency response management, India’s first dedicated to a common man for skill development in emergency response.
